Three passionate and talented students from SMA Edu Global Senior High School Bandung—Jiyu Lelia Gunawan, Diandra Adelia Hidayat, and Senna Attandra Norman, all from Grade 11—successfully represented the school at the National Schools Debating Championship (NSDC) 2025 at the city level.
This prestigious event, organized by Puspresnas (Pusat Prestasi Nasional), brought together top debaters from 33 high schools in Bandung, including SMAN 1, SMAN 2, SMAN 3, SMAN 5, SMAN 8, SMAN 10, SMAN 11, SMAN 12, SMAN 13, SMAN 14, SMAN 15, SMAN 16, SMAN 19, SMAN 21, SMAN 22, SMAN 23, SMAN 24, SMAN 26, SMA Istiqomah, SMA Taruna Bakti, SMA Santa Maria, SMAS Yahya, SMAS Al Biruni Cerdas Mulia, SMA GPS, SMA BPI, SMA Hidup Baru, SMA Pasundan 3, Darut Tauhid Boarding School (DTBS), Bandung Independent School (BIS), and SMAS Edu Global Bandung itself.
During the three preliminary rounds, the Edu Global team secured two Victory Points, winning against SMAN 2 Bandung and SMAN 24 Bandung. Although they were narrowly defeated by SMAN 16 Bandung in the first round, their performance across all rounds was strong enough to earn them an impressive 10th place ranking out of 33 schools—a significant achievement for a first-time participant at this level.
Adding to the celebration, Jiyu Lelia Gunawan earned a spot in the Top 8 Best Speakers out of 100 participants, making her one of the highest-rated individual debaters in the city-level competition.
While only the Top 3 Individual Speakers (2 from BIS and 1 from DTBS) qualified to advance to the provincial round, Edu Global Bandung is proud of its performance and progress.
This year marks a milestone for Edu Global Bandung, as this is the first time the school has placed in the Top 10 and earned a Best Speaker award in NSDC. These achievements reflect the dedication, critical thinking, and growing confidence of our students in the field of academic debate.
We look forward to seeing what our young debaters will accomplish in the future—this is just the beginning!
